We will run the first match this year over a six month period, commencing on 1st May 08 Entry will be free for Sportsman’s Association members, and non association members will be expected to “Donate” £5.00 to S.A funds, for each competition they wish to compete in. Scores to be sent in by Email using the form published here. Collated results will be published on our website each month. The scores from two runs through the course of fire each month are to be submitted. If you wish, you can shoot as far in advance as you like. Scores must be nominated for the competition BEFORE shooting, so that you cannot just pick out your best scores of the month to send in. Nominate three runs through the course of fire (before shooting them of course) and send in the two best as your competition scores.

Targets

Where Turning targets are needed and the club does not possess them, then timing on the whistle is allowed, but it must be stated on the score sheet that the targets were static. If we get enough entries I will arrange separate leagues for static and turning targets.

If the club only has a 20 yard range then the 25m competitions may be shot on scaled down targets that are available from the NSRA. If you have difficulty getting hold of Targets, let me know and I will see about getting some printed, for you to purchase from us.

Late shots on static targets.

In the case of a late shot, deduct the lowest scoring shot, then highest scoring shot for each subsequent late shot.

Courses of fire

1.& 2. Long Range. As per International Long Range Pistol Shooting Association rules, using the Wessex P.S.9 Targets for 100 meters or a scaled down version for 50 or 25 meters.

3. Slow fire precision, PL7 Targets 12 shots, best ten to count, all shot in ten minutes

4.  Service “A” As per the NRA rulebook (Bisley Bible) Fig. 11 TARGETS

5. Police pistol PAA (Police Pistol targets) as per the NRA rulebook

6. Standard Pistol, as per NRA rulebook PL7 at 25 meters, or scaled down target PL 15 at  20 yards.

7.  ISSF Centre fire, as per the NRA rulebook, except that static targets may be used if  turning targets are not available, to be shot on PL7 and ISSF Rapid fire targets, or scaled  down targets if shot at 20 yards.

8. El Presedente. 3 IPSC Classic targets, 1.5m edge to edge, 10 m down range from a 1m  square “shooters box”. Shooter stands with back to target, arms up in surrender position.  On fire command, shooter turns, draws pistol, and fires two shots on each target, re-loads  and then fires a further two shots on each target. Timer stops on last shot.

Shooter must remain in the 1m square “shooters box” at all times. If holsters are not  available, then pistols may be placed on a table at the front edge of the shooters box.

  1. David Ashley Pattison says:

    Dear Sir,
Back in the very late seventies I qualified for and was awarded a ‘Police Pistol Expert’ badge. I was a member of a shooting club in Accrington Lancashire. My mentor was, I think, the local police inspector but I can’t remember his name. I was interested in the sport but had never shot a pistol before. He took me under his wing, giving me excellent instruction culminating in the award mentioned above.
However, the much-treasured badge was stitched to a cap which was later stolen. Is there any way I can replace the badge?
